No, this is incorrect. As far as as MacOS X and Darwin are concerned,
here is what Apple has to say about it:
Darwin is the core of Mac OS X. On its own, it is a complete
BSD-derived operating system.
Concerning the GUI interface, we make no particular assumption about
whether or not X Windows is available. We rely on Tk. Whether Tk on
MacOS requires X Windows or not is out of our hands. The only thing
we can adapt is the wish clone that we use to communicate with Tk.
There is a special version for Windows. If a special version is
needed for MacOS X in the absence of X Windows, you'd better let us
know: none of us has access to a MacOS X machine. I managed to do
what was needed for the port via email (with Marc-Antoine Parent, and
great thanks to him) and feel a bit ticked off that you should dismiss
my efforts as insufficiently conscientious.

(1) Maybe you could volunteer to lead and contribute to an effort
aimed at more satisfactory cross-platform GUI support for Mozart.
(2) Or you could volunteer to improve the MacOS X support in Mozart.
either one would be greatly appreciated. We simply have neither the
manpower nor the varied equipment necessary to do more than we already
do. We need your help. Don't ask what Mozart could do for you, ask
what you could do for Mozart!
Come on: be a man/woman/undecided and join the ranks of the
developers. Think of the good you could do, think of the glory, think
of the fame (don't think of the work)... ahem
Cheers,
