OK, I'll take you up on WiX. It looks very promising, especially the idea of
decompiling the existing MSI for starters, which will doubtless save a lot
of time.
It probably makes sense to add a GCC generated exe to the windows source to
register the environment variables. This exe can be specified in the install
as the post-commit custom action, and that should do it.
So, I'm going to give this a whirl today and see what happens.
