Dear Hackers,
I am writing to let you know about a new branch in the mozart
repository. This branch is called mozart-gecode and it aims to
integrate gecode as the underlying constraint system of mozart. Many
people have been asking for this kind of integration since gecode was
released. At this time the integration works for finite domain
constraints (e.g. money, queens, etc.).
There is still a lot of work to be done and we plan to go ahead
improving this branch until it becomes stable. For this integration we
have been helped by Raphael Collet, Kevyn Glyn. All their advises have
been very helpful. Also we have interacted with Guido Tack and
Christian Schulte who have provided very useful information about
gecode design and internals.
We will continue working in this branch. We would greatly appreciate
if some of you give it a try and send us some feedback. We are trying
to keep the integration as close to Mozart as possible but due to some
important design differences between the Oz and Gecode constraint
system, backward compatibility is not ensured so far. Any comments,
feedback or feature requests are welcome.
Cheers,
