What i do is to mirror the mozart repository locally with "svk mirror"
then i start a local branch to do everything  i need and commit the
changes to my local mirror. At any time i can synchronize the mirror
with the main repository and merge the changes in my local branches.
Finally i can merge the changes in my local branches to the main
repository if i have write access or create a patch.

I think svk is a good approach and it does not requires any server
installation. Only the local machine needs the package. More
