About GUI and IDE Interface

It's not Java, its the enormous libraries, graphics and other dissiderata
required to make the project (Eclipse) be all things to all people.

REBOL looks interesting, but I for one don't care for the gaudy graphical
look-feel. It is, however, an interesting idea, worthy of looking into.

WRT Eclipse another alternative to Java is to write Oz bindings directly to
Eclipse's native GUI toolkit. Then we can write the Eclipse IDE GUI for Oz
in Oz, not Java. Another angle to explore...
