New release (was: Build fails on SuSE 8.1)

Hi All,

Will the "uniform state proposal" (where @ and := are used for getting
and setting values of cells and attributes, etc.) be implemented in the
planned new release?

The reason I'm asking is that I'm planning a course using the van Roy %
Haridi book. The book is using the new syntax, so it would be nice if
the implementation also did. ON THE OTHER HAND, if the new syntax
introduces backward compatibility problems, e.g. by breaking code in the
Mogul or in other libraries, then I'm not so sure I would want the
change to take effect so soon... If necessary, I'm prepared to make the
necessary changes to the stuff that I myself have placed in the Mogul
right away, but I suspect that not everyone is...

And hey, what happened to the GTK stuff? Will that be part of the new
release? (Not important, I'm just curious...)

Regards,
Torbjörn
