Build fails on SuSE 8.1

Well I thought I'd run the tests an so far everything works except the 
DP test - this is as far as I have got -

... endless wait

  everything grinds to a halt -- any ideas about how to sort this out?
One thing I did do was to run this as root and found that the hostname 
had been set to something weird and oz like - sorry can't remember as 
this broke so much I felt a reboot was required and I'm not about to 
rerun it...

if I call {OS.uName}.nodename it appears to get it right - so I have no 
clue.
