rats! it used to work for netbsd :-(

The first thing to try is (1) reconfigure from scratch passing the
--enable-opt=d option to configure in order to build a debug emulator,
(2) run the test suite:

in the build directory:

  % cd share/test
  % make boot-all
  % make boot-check

this will build and run the non-distributed part of the test suite.
It's a bit more complicated to run the distributed part of it (so,
I'll explain that later if necessary: but try the above first).

I have some sort of vague plan to switch to plone, if only to make it
easier for non-SB devs to update the web site.
